File This Under: Drive Thru Throwdown

This video has been all over the place lately.

I asked Bill if he had seen it, and he said he had.  His two conclusions to why the woman lost her shit was either drugs, or she was the product of bad parents.

I take issue with that, because it seems anymore that crazy people are always given a simple excuse to be...well...not as crazy as they act.

The truth is, however, that there are some people who are just loony, and there is no explanation as to why.

I have worked drive through in many places, and I can say with authority that seeing that video didn't surprise me in the least.  I have encountered customers on many occasions where a complete meltdown/bitch slap would be the next step in the ascent into rage.

What gets me, is *why* these people completely lose their shit.

In the case of this video, it was McNuggets, which I don't even believe are real chicken.  Oh, McDonalds can say they are real chicken all they want, but they also once said that a person could eat their food every single day and it was *good* for them.  We all know how that was proven wrong.

Some people go through a restaurant thinking that they are going to get exactly what they want, exactly how they want it.  They are completely unequipped to deal with the possiblity that their single minded desire may not be granted in the way they want.  People who are like this tend to completely lose their mind, because their day has been completely derailed with this anomoly in their day.

It's a truly pathetic mindset.

Please understand, I'm not talking about those individuals with issues involving compulsion.  I have two friends that tend to get antsy when things aren't exactly as they think it should be, and it is an uncontrollable compulsion.  But I can say with those two, while they can be difficult, they have never done so much as raise their voice to anyone they have dealt with concerning the matter.

Compulsion aside, some people just get their rocks off on being bossy and difficult because it allows them to think they are more important than they really are.

Meaning, if they can throw a big enough bitchfit, then they will have the establishment by the short and curlies, and by golly that's the most important they have felt in ages.

It is a possiblity that the woman in the above video was just a raging bitch who didn't get her way, so she acted as a preschooler would.  She threw a tantrum.  My 2 year old niece likes to whine and hit when she can't get what she wants, and that's all I see in the video above.  A little girl trapped in a grown woman's body, who is mad because she can't have her McNuggets.

One could argue that if she wasn't on drugs, then this "Preschooler Syndrome" I just described could only be brought about by bad parenthood.  There is some merit to that, but not always the case.

Sometimes, even after a person has left the nest, they still feel as though it takes too much time and effort to be patient and practical.  Maybe in their youth, that was what they were taught, and maybe those teachings simply didn't stick.  My husband was raised to have a wife and children, and I'm not going to hold my breath to see if that is going to happen.

The point is, that I think that we often forget that some people are just assholes, with no explanation to speak of.  She may have been crazy.  She may have been high.  She may have been hungry as hell.  Who knows.  Who cares?  She was caught on tape losing her damn mind, and it is now serving as a reminder that we can't always get what we want, and for goodness sake if you are working a drive through, lock the fucking window when you see someone is getting out of the car.  Better to be wrong and glared at, than right and completely whooped over some overprocessed white meat chicken.

Or coffee.  Or whatever.

What do *you* think?
